"So are you going to tell me or not?" I said as I was pinned in a tiny janitor closet.
"Are you sure you want to know what I am about to tell you?"
"Are you going to tell me or not?" I said as I raised my voice at this procastenator.
"Fine, but you are not going to like it."
"I do not care."
"Your mother has been lying to you all these years about the paternity of your father. She knows who he is and where he is today. Well, not the exact location but she knows that he is alive. You see, eighteen years ago, Caydence Lynn was not so innocent as you think. See, your mother had an affair with a married man. His name was, or should I say is, Elijah Melani."
"Wait, as in Elijah Melani, the lawyer who was involed with Aaron Smith's death?"
"Yes, and of course you know Aaron Smith becasue he was involved with your mother. Now, Elijah has tried to contact you, several times. He never knew he had a son until you were three years of age. See, Elijah was married until twelve years ago when his first wife finally signed the divorce papers. Elijah came to your mother's office when you were three. And she turned him away. Your father wants to have something to do with you. But he just does not know how to get in touch with you."
"Wait, how the hell do you know all of this shit? And why are you telling me this now, after eighteen years of abandonment?"
"Your father has been in 'hiding' for fifteen years since that horrible accident with Aaron Smith. At the same time, he was into some heavy government issues, completely confidential but I guess he leaked information out and now he has to hide and completely stay off of the radar. He wanted to make sure that you were old enought to understand everything."
"And how do you know all of this stuff?"
"This is a little secret between the two of us. I know all of these details because Elijah Melani, he is my brother."
"What?"
"Listen. I have got to run, clients will not wait any longer. I will see you around." Kevin said hurriedly.
And just like that, Kevin Smith was gone. And for some odd reason, I believe him with all my instincts. And I also wanted to hear more, if not from Kevin or Elijah, but from my damn mother. Why would she hide this, something to precious and dear to me, from me, I thought as I walked into homeroom.
